As stated in part 1 of this DayJet review the soon to open private jet taxi company is going to offer private luxury jets to executive travelers and anyone else who can afford a ride in a private jet. I have a feeling that many wealthy students in Tallahassee and Gainesville are going to add to Day Jets’ bottom line.

A flight from Boca Raton to Gainesville, with a two-hour window for DayJet to complete the trip, would cost about $854. Such a scenario would apply to someone who needs to leave Boca by 8 a.m. and get to Gainesville by 10 a.m. Charter Flight prices can go down to about $331 with a wider time window to complete the flight.

Once the client chooses the time window and departure-destination cities, they receive a price but not the exact time of departure and arrival. This information is sent via e-mail the night before because Day Jet waits until the last moment in oder to attempt to use it’s jets (Eclipse 500) in the most efficient way possible.

The cities with little air service will benefit from DayJets’ flights bringing 16 jobs to Gainesville airport alone.

One major unknown is the use of new aircraft which are untested in a commercial use setting and mainteneace and realiability are still unknown variables. Otherwise DayJets’ private business jet charter flights should be a hit.

Do you dream of chartering a flight for those quick business trips but can’t seem to afford chartering an entire private jet? Day Jet a Florida private jet charter company is opening for business next month.

Flying the very light jet Eclipse 500, DayJet is taking to the sky with a less expensive, gas saving private jet that promises to get you into those hard to reach cities, like Tallahassee. The private jet service will have three to four seats for passengers. I did notice however that the seats don’t have arm rests, which in my opinion is a major design flaw on the part of the Eclipse 500 manufacturer and Day Jet should have insisted on arm rests. Who wants to get to their destination with a shoulder and neck ache, because the weight of their arms was not properly supported?

A three hour car drive is now 35 minutes with the air taxi. The big selling propositon is that an executive traveling for business can get to his meeting and home in the same day.

DayJet CEO Ed Iacobucci wants to have 50 very light jets in operation by years end. Lofty goals for a company that hasn’t flown it’s first passenger yet, but if you reach for the stars, even if you don’t grab them, you won’t come up with a hand full of mud either.

According to Day Jet, the company is also a technology company, using advanced computer algorithms to position their charter flight services in the right airport for the right executive traveler. “Aviation is how we deliver our service, but there’s a whole lot of layers of capabilities that are beneath the surface that you don’t see,” Iacobucci said.

With no pricing or schedules posted online, a potential charter flight client inputs their flight needs and Day Jets’ computers spit out a price for that flight. Much like on -demand flying, so that if two seats are sold and the charter jet is due to take off in 1 hour, the third seat may be sold at a deep discount if someone wants it.

For example, a one-way charter flight from Boca Raton to Gainesville, with a two-hour window for DayJet to complete the trip, would cost about $854. Such a scenario would apply to someone who needs to leave Boca by 8 a.m. and get to Gainesville by 10 a.m.

With a more flexible four-hour travel window, the one way price would drop to about $458. With six hours, it’s about $331. On it’s website. DayJet promises a maximum 30 minute wait.

Other than that, I have no complaints (I haven’t flown with Day Jet yet, but I should schedule a private flight soon).

The Eclipse 500 specifications can be found here.

Instead of having to wait in long lines, DayJet offers all the amenities of private jet travel, no lines, no waiting, arrive five minutes before the flight and best of all, no crying babies or nagging passengers.

Cheap charter flights are hard to come by but it seems DayJet will soon let it be known that they are the jet charter company du jour.

For now, the private jet air charter company will only be flying to Boca Raton, Gainesville, Lakeland, Pensacola, and Tallahassee- Florida cities that are normally driving destinations, b/c of a lack in commercial air travel at reasonable prices.

Let’s see if DayJet is all it’s cracked up to be, I for one, hope it is
